Dear Brethren of California,
I am sure you have heard of the disastrous fires which are burning in Amador, Calaveras, Lake, Napa, and Sonoma counties. The governor declared a state of emergency in both the Valley and Butte regions. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes and hundreds more homes and structures are in danger.
I have received word that a number of our brothers and their families are among the evacuees. No doubt many members of our Masonic family have been or will be affected by the fires. I call upon all lodges in these areas to make your best efforts to reach out to your members, Masonic widows, and their families who might be affected. There are a number of local agencies that can provide support and aid to the evacuees, and our fraternity can help as well. Please consider what resources your lodge has to support them. An email message with more information about how to provide relief through lodge funds will be distributed soon.
If there are Masons, widows, or other members of our Masonic family who need help and the lodge and community cannot meet their needs, please let me know by contacting Grand Secretary Allan Casalou,firstname.lastname@example.org. He will work to connect them with any available resources.
Linda and I pray for all of those who have been or might be harmed by these terrible fires and we are thankful for the support of our entire fraternity who stand ready to come to their aid.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Russ Charvonia, Grand Master
