This fall, a group of residents at Acacia Creek Retirement Community decided to use their talents to give back. Each week, the Sewing for Charity Group began meeting to create handmade goods to support those in need. All crafts are donated directly to the needy or sold at on-campus and community events in support of worthy causes.
On Nov. 4, the Sewing for Charity Group presented the Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank with a check for $600. It will be used to feed families in need throughout the Union City, Fremont, and Hayward communities.
Up next: On Saturday, Dec. 5, the Sewing for Charity Group will sell potholders at the Livermore AAHMES Holiday Bazaar. All profits from that sale will benefit the Livermore AAHMES Shriners.
